So, the answer to this is lots of things, if I’m honest. I’ve made some references to things I’m working on, but haven’t revealed a lot about any of them yet. So I thought I’d take a post to outline some of the things I’ve been working on.
The biggest!
This would be a work of fiction that I don’t have a title for yet. It’s in the fantasy genre. The captain of a pirate ship and her best friend are trying to escape the notice of an oppressive government that has taken control of magic away from the people. She begins to believe she is at the center of a prophecy that will allow magic to be returned to the people. There is a first draft for this, and I have begun working on a second draft. I have been shifting some things around. I think it works better overall that way. I’m a little torn because I intended this to be stand alone but now, the best friend has a story of his own that needs to be told. So, we’ll see.
Thriller
This story revolves around two former friends who hosted a podcast and what happens when the myth of fandom erases one of them. The story is told through the eyes of the FBI agent trying to catch the killer before he rewrites the ending of the story to fit his own agenda.
Mental Health for Kids
I have been working on a series of mental health books for kids. The idea is to teach the kids strategies to deal with executive dysfunction problems. The books also have pages and resources for teachers, counselors, and parents. The biggest problem I have with this is that I don’t have an illustrator. I could use someone to create the artwork that goes with the story. I may try it, but I’m not sure I could do it justice. This is going to be a wait and see, probably, because I want to write two or three of the books first.
Can I Write a Romance?
The answer to this is probably not. But there’s an idea floating around out there, so I may try to put some things onto paper and see what happens.
