All of my experience writing so far has been either in the journalistic vein or very related to school work. Neither of these things is bad.
It does create a small problem though. How in the world does one write a query letter?
I can write fiction. But a query letter isn’t fiction. But it’s also not academic. Or journalism. I am struggling to find a way to write a query letter that doesn’t end up sounding like a cover letter for a job application.

I feel like a query letter is meant to be a little less formal. I understand the basic premise. Describe the story, succinctly. Compare it to similar titles but explain how it’s different. And then, who are you, exactly?
But that feels like a bigger leap than finishing my first rough draft.
I’ll take advice. Anyone?
